This Old Town

A few friends and I took off on a road trip last Friday afternoon. We ended up getting lost on the way to our destination, and this is what we found.

If you're interested, there are more pictures from this day on my flickr.

It was floating with the high-rise buildings in the background. Looks so peaceful.

A Mix

I'm muddled today. I take on lots of responsibility, some that I love, some that I loathe. But sometimes, even the best of us need a break. I'm taking a mental health day tomorrow. Schoolwork is too cumbersome when I have more homework then schoolwork. I'm going to finish a huge chunk of reading that's been bringing me down. Maybe after my short break I'll be back in stride. We can only hope, right?

not another cliche sunset...

I like the boldness of the foreground against the sky. I also like the way the branches seem to be creeping along the power lines, like snakes or vines.

One for the Team

One for the Team, a local band, played an outdoor show last weekend. This is a photo from it. Tonight I went & saw Owl City, which was brilliant. Unicorn Kid, one of the supporting acts, was also super great.

I just shot some film & developed it in the darkroom. I'll be doing some prints on Wednesday, hopefully my next post will be one of those :)

much better view on Flickr

9/25

this is my boyfriend jesse. this week i took a few pictures of him in a creek by his house during my favorite time to shoot, the late afternoon.
i love this camera because it always gives you a little sundog whenever there's a lens flare.

the latest: school's starting to take its toll... there are projects galore and i'm exhausted but happy.

24 September, 2009

Hey there, I'm sorry but this is the only thing I'm able to take picture of at the time, loaded with school work. This is my wall beside my working table, we're currently working on a skirt project, each one got a letter from the alphabet, I got C and I'm working with the word curiosity, suits me, I'm really curious :)

Mateo

For those of you who are unawares, I go to a school called Texas A&M University, and our biggest rivals are the Longhorns of the University of Texas (or, more lovingly called around the A&M campus, the t-sippers at that school down the road in Austin, t. u.) Football at A&M is a really big deal, and one thing many college kids like to do is paint overalls, like Mateo's here. Mateo's parents were Aggies, and they are properly raising their son to be a future Aggie. I ran in to this loud and proud member of the Fightin' Texas Aggie Class of 2029 at our most recent football game, when we BTHO Utah State. He's even giving the thumbs up! His parents are teaching him well.

Thanks, and gig 'em. :)

Windmill

I'm waiting a breeze...
The sky is getting higher. The air has changed into dry...
At last, my favorite season has come.

This picture was taken on my Lomo LC-A.

Patterns

Mesmerized. Captivated by lines and patterns.
They're everywhere; they're brilliant.

A blossom

This is a picture of a flame tree blossom. I take a lot of pictures of trees, I love trees. I love their shape and form and colour, and I love how they change through out the seasons.

Kolthoff Hall

I like to get to French class early and sit in the hall outside. It's very relaxing. This is the Kolthoff Hall basement (in the U of MN) at about 9:30 in the morning. No one was there yet and there were no classes in session.

Better view here.

18 September, 2009

why i'm late:

i was just minding my own beeswax today at school, when i stepped through my teacher's door only to find out that it was actually a portal to another planet. there was no evident way to get back, so i made friends with a couple of the locals, klordag and faanli. don't you think their pink stripey grass and monotone green sky are so fascinating? i thought i'd take a picture for memory's sake. originally this was going to be a picture of just klordag and his pet tricerotops next to their national tree, but faanli had to run in and photo bomb it. classic!
anyway, i finally found my way home and just HAD to show you all.

the latest: i'm really breaking out of my normal routine these days. acting a bit weirder, being a little more outgoing towards people, listening to more energetic music. i think it's the buzz of school and fall. this part is totally irrelevant but i MUST tell you that i made zebra cupcakes today and would have uploaded a picture of them but they all got eaten. ah well, perhaps another week.

peace and love and hugs and kisses and flowers and sunshine and rainbows forever and ever and ever

road to..

I like the nature and the forest and the butterflies and the spiders and the apple trees and the shadows and the sunlight and the mold and the leaves and the breeze and the warmth and getting my feet dirty.

16 September, 2009

Golden slumbers.

I'm so tired. I'm looking forward the the rest of my week; it should slow down some. There are still a lot of things I want to accomplish before the weekend is over. Looking forward to an out-of-town friend and the football game this weekend.

rope dancers

I saw 2 rope dancers on the electric wires. They seems to walk with long steps, rhythmical, and merrily.
I've got a feeling that I heard Pizzicato Five's 'On the Sunny Side of the Street'...

Through Windows

Sometimes, I look out windows, and see lives. Full of colour, and fluid motion, and imagination abounding. Sometimes, I look in windows from outside. Within, I see lives. They're full of happiness and warmth. Sometimes, I wonder why I am a mere voyeur. I wonder why I can only view, and never be apart of these lives I witness.

Sometimes, I wonder.

recycled

Is it horrible that, for the first post I do, I use a photo I took over a week ago? (I think it is) Unfortunately I was at a wedding today & then babysat so I've had no time to myself!
Let's see, about me....

Right now I'm listening to Matt & Kim and eating Brown Sugar Cinammon Pop Tarts.
I adore Fred Astaire and Clara Bow.
I pretend to speak French. I'm actually quite bad.
I love holding hands and dancing even though I can't.
I try to watch a movie everyday. If you need recommendations, come to me.
My favourite film is Harold & Maude.
My favourite shows are Gilmore Girls, Freaks & Geeks, and Skins.
I...attend university, have an older sister, shoot with a Pentax, only like the pink Starburts, layer my plain bagels with plain cream cheese, wear white Hanes tee shirts, blog, am 16, live in Minnesota, and eat ice cream by the boatloads.
I also really love hot chocolate.

Magna Rún

Hi there, not really in the mood for a closeup. But this is me, pure me, no make up or something like that, just hiding behind my hands. My name is Magna Rún, today the 10th of September is my 18th birthday. And well, about me? uhm, I'm from Reykjavík, Iceland, but I'm currently in Randers, Denmark studying fashion and textile design, its really fun :)

09 September, 2009

Hi,

I'm Jayne.

Maybe my first post shouldn't have been a photograph that I'd taken prior to this week, prior, most likely, to the conception of this idea... Oh, well. It is. There have been some slight changes to my appearance since the shutter snapped and captured this moment, but if you've been reading this blog, it's probably not driven by an interest in the physical demeanor. (that's not to say that our contributors aren't beautiful people, because they are:)) Otherwise, I'd like to say that this photograph is a fairly accurate presentation of who I am.

It's nice to meet you. :)

Magic

This is the first day of the Seven Day Art Collective. We're an ensemble of diligent, quaint, humble photographers who have an eye for magic and a talent for capturing little wafts of life as they pass by. Our magic is visual, caught in the iris of our eyes, living in the heart of glass lenses. When we open our eyes, a flood of life and creativity rush in, and in the ever returning cycle of sorcery, our minds and souls return some of the most imaginative depictions of the world one will ever know. We're only as lucky and talented as you are. But for a little while, at least, we hope you take stock in your own magic as you witness ours.

But you can't expect to start a story without knowing the cast of characters. Let us introduce ourselves over this next week: lips, and eyes, and souls, and hair, and blemishes, and all. You can learn our names, and learn a little about ourselves as we all learn more about each other.

This week's theme: Take a self-portrait of your face.

Name: Chris
